MKS Multi-Split Systems

MKS connects 2 to 5 indoor units to a single outdoor condenser, a popular configuration where aircon ledge space is scarce. Servicing these systems requires understanding that every indoor unit shares the same refrigerant loop, so a fault in one room affects the whole flat. Refrigerant pressure balancing across heads is a key step we never skip.

Emura Designer Range

A premium series with a sculpted curved front panel. Emura units tend to show up in high-end condos around River Valley, Orchard and Bukit Timah. Decoding the Most Common Daikin Error Codes

One advantage of choosing Daikin is that the unit tells you what is wrong. When a fault trips, the indoor display shows an alphanumeric code or the LEDs blink in a specific pattern. The ones we see most often in Singapore are:

U4 - Inter-unit communication error. Almost always traced to wiring between indoor and outdoor, a PCB fault or power supply noise. We test the communication circuit step by step rather than assuming the worst.

A3 - Drain pan high water level. The float switch has detected water backing up, usually from a blocked condensate drain. A proper pressure flush clears it in 20 minutes.

E7 - Outdoor fan motor abnormality. Could be a seized bearing, a failed capacitor or foreign debris in the fan housing. We check each before quoting a motor replacement.

L5 - Compressor overload protection. Often caused by a dirty condenser coil, blocked outdoor airflow or low refrigerant charge. Treat this one urgently; ignoring it damages the compressor.

A1 - Indoor PCB fault. Sometimes resolves after a power cycle, sometimes requires a PCB swap. We test both possibilities before quoting parts.

R32 Refrigerant and Inverter Care

Newer Daikin residential units use R32 refrigerant, which aligns with NEA’s phase-down of high global warming potential refrigerants. R32 is mildly flammable and requires trained handling, leak detection equipment and the correct recovery procedures. Our vans carry both R32 and R410A for top-ups and we follow NEA safety protocols for every charge.

Inverter compressors run almost continuously at variable speed, so any loss of cooling efficiency translates directly into higher electricity bills on your SP utility account. My Daikin shows an error code. What should I do?
Note the exact code shown on the remote or indicated by the indoor unit LEDs. Common codes include U4 for inter-unit communication error, A3 for drain pan high water level, E7 for outdoor fan motor issue and L5 for compressor overload. WhatsApp us the code and a photo of the unit and we can often advise on likely parts before dispatching a technician.
Will third-party servicing void my Daikin factory warranty?
Standard servicing and chemical cleaning performed by an authorised technician does not void Daikin's warranty. CoolX Aircon is an authorised Daikin service and installation partner, and our methods comply with Daikin's guidelines. For parts covered under factory warranty we will coordinate with Daikin's service centre on your behalf to process the claim.
How long does a Daikin system last in Singapore?
With quarterly servicing and an annual chemical wash, a residential Daikin system typically lasts 10 to 12 years in Singapore's tropical climate. Commercial VRV systems can run 15 years or more when maintained properly. The biggest life extender is keeping the coils clean and refrigerant levels accurate, both of which are standard inclusions in our visits.
Should I repair or replace my older Daikin unit?
As a rule of thumb, units under 6 years old are almost always worth repairing. For systems 8 to 10 years old, we compare repair cost against the efficiency gain of upgrading to an R32 5-tick inverter, plus any NEA Climate Voucher eligibility. We provide both quotes side-by-side after a S$40 to S$50 diagnostic visit so you can make an informed choice.
Do you stock Daikin-compatible spare parts?
