System Selection: More Than Picking a Brand

Wall-Mounted Splits

The standard across HDB and condo estates. Indoor units mount on the wall, connected via copper piping to an outdoor condenser on the aircon ledge. Available as System 1 (one indoor, one outdoor) through System 5 (five indoors on one outdoor). Inverter compressors are now the norm, delivering quiet operation and lower SP utility bills.

Ceiling Cassettes

Recessed flush into the ceiling for a clean look. Common in condos with suspended ceilings and in commercial offices across Raffles Place, CBD and Orchard. Requires sufficient ceiling void and more involved installation, but distributes air more evenly than a wall split.

Concealed Ducted Systems

Indoor unit and ductwork hidden above the ceiling, with only discreet supply and return grilles visible. The cleanest aesthetic, common in high-end condos at River Valley and in landed properties. Highest installation complexity and cost.

Installation Day Workflow

Our team arrives with every tool and material on the van. The typical sequence is:

1. Protective sheeting across floors, walls and nearby furniture
2. Bracket mounting on indoor walls using appropriate anchors for HDB or condo concrete
3. Piping and trunking runs cut, flared and secured neatly along planned routes
4. Electrical wiring from the aircon point to each indoor and outdoor unit
5. Drainage installation with correct gradient to the approved drain point
6. Outdoor condenser placement on the ledge or bracket with ventilation clearance
7. Vacuum and nitrogen pressure test held for the manufacturer-specified duration
8. Refrigerant release and commissioning with operating verification
9. Handover with remote walk-through, care instructions and warranty registration

Why Vacuum Testing Is Non-Negotiable

Moisture inside the refrigerant circuit is the silent killer of aircon compressors. Even a trace of water combines with refrigerant to form acid under operating pressure, damaging the compressor oil, valves and windings over months or years. Proper installation removes that moisture with a deep vacuum held for 30 minutes or more, and verifies the circuit holds vacuum before any refrigerant is released. This is the step cheap installers skip, and it is the number one reason budget installations fail after 3 to 5 years.

HDB-Specific Considerations We Handle for You

HDB flat installations come with their own rules, and our team has memorised them:
